Defog your goggles

While on a swim today, I noticed myself taking my goggles off and dipping them in water from time to time. Every few minutes the inside of the goggles was getting fogged up by tiny water droplets, restricting my vision.

As my mind wandered while mindlessly doing laps, I couldn’t help but draw parallels to this.

As builders and creatives, our perception of reality is often fogged by droplets of ego, entitlement and our self-set arbitrary goals. It can distort our view of what lies ahead and what is truly important to us.

Do this for long enough and you end up with a product that nobody wants use, or with the an audience that doesn’t care. Do it for longer and you end up frustrated on HackerNews.

You need to deliberately re-calibrate yourself (and your product) with the feedback that the universe is feeding you with, everyday. Do it consistently and you just might end up with something people find useful.

Every once in a while take your goggles off and dip them in water.

Hope you enjoyed this. You can find me on Twitter @0xamogh. See you tomorrow!
